Borger Police are launching a new addition to Eye and Ears Program in an effort to make the Borger community a little bit safer.
Tip411 is the newest addition. It is an internet based tool that enable the public to text anonymous tips to Borger police.
Police can respond to the tips creating an anonymous chat with community tippers.
The program is strictly for public safety purposes and is accessible to anyone with a cell phone.
"This new capability will help our citizens play an active role in keeping neighborhoods safer, as well as engage a younger demographic in the process, and it will save our agency time and resources, " Borger Police Department said.
To send a tip to The Borger Police Department, text the word BORGER along with the tip information to 847411.
In addition to texting in tips, community members will also be able to submit tips online at www.ci.borger.tx.us.
Borger police say that tips will soon be able to be sent via Facebook through a link on the Borger Police Department's Facebook page.
Another app Borger residents can look forward to is an "Alert App". This new introduction will allow residents to register and receive special alerts from the Borger Police Department.
The alerts from Borger police will be anything from Amber Alerts to any law enforcement based information.
Borger police want to make clear that the tip411 program does not take the place of calling 911 in an emergency situation.
