Texas Department of Public Safety troopers conducted a routine traffic stop Tuesday on Interstate 40.

At approximately 2:15 Tuesday afternoon, a DPS trooper stopped a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer going east on Interstate 40.

During the stop, the trooper searched the vehicle and found 4,658 grams of methamphetamine wrapped in plastic inside the heater core of the vehicle, according to a news release.

The estimated value of the recovered drugs is $390,107.

The driver, Griselda P. Sanchez, 23, and the passenger, Melissa Marquez, 23, were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Carson County Jail.

It is believed that the drugs were being transported form Mexico to Oklahoma City.
