AMARILLO, TEXAS -- At approximately 10:50 a.m. Saturday morning, Amarillo Police responded to an armed robbery call in the 1700 block of Amarillo Boulevard East.

A manager of the store was working at the time of the robbery. He walked out of the store to take a bank deposit to the bank when he was approached by a man with a large handgun who demanded the money from him.

The victim fought back and the suspect struck him several times in the head and face with the gun. The victim was able to throw the bag back into the store.

After the altercation, the suspect ran west then north toward the Lakeview Apartments. The suspect may have left the area in a white, older model Oldsmobile with three other people inside.

The suspect is described as a black male. At this time there have been no arrests.

If you have any information regarding the robbery or suspect contact the Amarillo Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.
