PAMPA, TEXAS -- Pampa residents in the northeast edge of town are concerned there is a possibility a new affordable housing apartment complex will be built in their neighborhood.

The two story 48 unit complex will have nine units rented at market value. Neighborhood resident Myrna Orr said "I love looking out at the open fields. I love this area. I really don’t think it’s the right place for an apartment complex."

Reta Chumbley said "I don’t want more than one story and I want families that will take care of their surroundings."

However, the City of Pampa says it’s not a done deal. The developer, Overland, is actually looking at three locations. They say if Overland chooses Pampa, they will make an effort to meet with local residents.

Donny Hooper, the director of Public Works said "there have been no applications, no meetings for zoning, no other issues other than the data we’ve given them for their research."

The City also said the area has been zoned for multiple families since the eighties. Residents intend to speak out at the City Commissioner’s meeting February 12th.
