Amarillo's Ryan Palmer started 2010 off on the right foot by winning the Sony Open in Hawaii. He has since played good and bad, but in the World of Golf Championships this past weekend, Palmer came into the final round tied at the top at nine under.
Palmer opened up his round with a six-foot birdie at the first hole to take the lead, but it was short lived as he bogeyed the next hole and then fell a stroke when his playing partner Sean O'Hair birdied the hole.
A bogey by Palmer at the 9th hole dropped him three-strokes off the lead, but then he opened the back nine with a pair of birdies to get within two-strokes of the lead.
Palmer did have birdie opportunities in his final seven holes, but couldn't sink them. But, it was still a great week for Palmer, who came into the event with ten missed cuts in his last 12 starts on the tour.
Palmer finished the final round 1-under-par 69 and a second place win at the WGC-Bridgestone. By finishing second, Palmer earned $840,000, pushing him over $2 million for the season for the first time.
Hunter Mahan won the title in this year's WGC-Bridgestone.
