Media, players will meet new AHS football coach

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For the first time since Kenneth Plunk was hired as head coach at Randall, a new metro high school varsity coach will come from outside the Texas Panhandle.

 

On Tuesday the Amarillo School Board unanimously approved the hiring of Mel Maxfield as the Amarillo High football coach. Maxfield comes to the Sandies from Burleson High School and before that he coached 15 seasons at Forney High School.

 

A press conference will take place 11am Wednesday at the AISD headquarters.
