MILWAUKEE (AP) - Oakland forward Derick Nelson has left the game against Pittsburgh with a gash over his left eye after taking an elbow from Panthers center Gary McGhee.

With about 10 minutes remaining in the opening half of Friday's first-round NCAA tournament game, McGhee appeared to inadvertently hit Nelson with an elbow after McGhee was fouled in the act of shooting, leaving blood trickling from the cut. Nelson spent several minutes on the floor before getting up and walking to the locker room, escorted by trainers.

Nelson is a starter for the Golden Grizzlies, averaging 12.4 points per game.
