AMARILLO, TX -- The results are in for the Amarillo police department's increased patrols over the holiday season.

The month long holiday patrol, which began November 26th, resulted in almost 400 extra hours of patrols across the city...focusing on high traffic areas..

Officers made more than 400 stops, resulting in about 20 arrests, which according to Corporal Jerry Neufeld, makes it a success.

"Numbers may not include hundreds of arrests, but we're not going to see that kind of thing...we expected to see a few dozen warrants, get some bad guys off to jail, write a few tickets, identified some suspicious people, just so they knew we were out there."

And be forewarned if you're going to be out this weekend celebrating the New Year's holiday..police will have some extra patrols out for that as well.
