Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball coach Linden Weese has announced his resignation as Zia basketball coach, effective May 31. He has served as the ENMU women’s basketball coach since the 2006-07 season. Coach Weese and his wife, Gay, plan on returning to Lubbock, Texas, to enjoy their children and grandchildren. “I want to thank former ENMU Athletic Director Mike Maguire for giving me this opportunity,” said Weese. “I wish Eastern athletics the very best in the future.” Steven Gamble, ENMU president, said,PORTALES, NEW MEXICO -- “We are very grateful to Coach Weese for his service to Eastern New Mexico University. The student/athletes he has recruited have been great representatives for our university. They have always shown good sportsmanship on the court and a dedication to academics and community service. We wish Coach Weese the best in his future endeavors. “ Under Weese’s guidance, the team earned seven All-Lone Star Conference South Division selections in five years and six LSC South academic honors. Cat Clay (Sr., F, Deming, N.M./Deming HS) developed into one of the top three-point shooters in team history, finishing ninth in all-time scoring, while Tori Northcutt (Sr., G, Clovis, N.M./Clovis HS) became one of the top passers in Zia history, with the team record for assists in a game and season.
