AUSTIN, TEXAS (AP) -- Andrew Hastings scored 19 points and Paducah overcame a slow start to beat Bronte 45-30 for the Class 1A Division II state championship Saturday night. Hastings made six 3-pointers to spark Paducah, which missed its first 13 shots. Lonnie Hurd added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Paducah (29-6). Dakota Rawls scored 13 points for top-ranked Bronte (33-4), but he and brother Kerwin Rawls combined to shoot just 6 of 31 from the field. Even with the slow start, Paducah still managed to lead 17-15 at halftime, then outscored Bronte 19-7 in the third quarter. Garrett Thompson made two 3-pointers in the final minute of the quarter to build the lead to 36-22 to start the fourth. Creed Colson made a 3-pointer for Bronte to start the final quarter, but any hopes of a rally quickly ended when A.J. Cantrell answered with one of his own for Paducah just a few seconds later.
