Two area athletes have been selected in the 2011 Major League baseball draft.

Randall grad, James “Brad” Propst was selected by the Houston Astros in the 38th round, the 1150th player taken overall. Propst was a key leader on the 2007 Randall baseball team that reached the UIL 4A state tournament. He played one year at Frank Phillips College and has spent the past three seasons pitching for Oklahoma State.  The other player selected, recent Canyon High grad, Derek O’Dell. He was picked by Boston in the 42nd round, the 1282nd player chosen overall. Unless he signs with the Red Sox, O’Dell will be heading to college and play baseball at TCU. Congratulations to both and good luck on whatever decisions are made.
