Volleybuffs get the week started right

  The #5 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M racked up their 13th straight win on Tuesday night in a three set sweep of the Mustangs of Midwestern State (25-20, 25-18, 25-16) in front of over 600 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse “The Box”. The Lady Buffs move to 13-1 (4-0 LSC) while the Mustangs fell to 3-10 (1-4 LSC).

 “I’m really impressed with how our girls came out and played after a tough emotional day” said WT head coach Jason Skoch “Kameryn (Hayes) stepped into the match and played really well offensively while Lauren (Beville) was solid as usual in the back row.”

 The win lifts the Lady Buffs to 25-0 all-time against the Mustangs, WT also registered its 13th consecutive victory since dropping the first match of the season.

 The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Kameryn Hayes with 14 kills followed by Halie Harton with 11 and Erin Dougherty with 10. Defending LSC Setter of the Week Lacy Hayes dished out 40 assists while senior libero Lauren Beville tallied 11 digs on the night. WT hit .380 as a team with 12 attack errors and eight total blocks.

 The Mustangs were led by Shelbi Stewart with eight kills, followed by Beatriz Villalba and Kasey Decker with five each. Courtney Haney and Kristan Adudell both dished out 14 assists while Casey Fletcher tallied nine digs. MSU hit .100 as a team with 21 attack errors and three total blocks.

 The Lady Buffs return to action this Friday night as they host the TexAnns of Tarleton State with first serve set for 7 p.m. at The Box in Canyon. Friday night is designated Maroon Out, fans are encouraged to wear maroon in support of the Lady Buffs.
