CANYON, TEXAS --   The West Texas A&M Lady Buff volleyball team has been tabbed the #9 team in NCAA Division II according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Top 25 poll announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Buffs finished the 2011 season with a 34-3 overall record and an appearance in the South Central Regional Semifinals before falling to Washburn. WT won its sixth straight Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship and their sixth consecutive regular season crown this season with a 19-1 record in LSC play.

Fellow Lone Star Conference member Angelo State was picked 15th while a pair of 2012 opponents, Central Missouri and Metro State, starts the season at number five and 13 respectively. The Lady Buffs are set to square off with the Roadrunners and Jennies at the 2012 Colorado Premiere.

WT starts off its season on August 31 and September 1 as they host the BritKare Lady Buff Classic at the WTAMU Fieldhouse with matches against Adams State, North Alabama, UT-Permian Basin and Western State scheduled for the weekend.
