AMARILLO, TEXAS -- It's that time of year again and local businesses are booming. While women melt at the sight of chocolates and flowers, companies have been hard at work getting Valentine's Day gifts together.

At Parie Designs, workers have been rushing to get orders ready for the big day. "We're probably doing what every florist in Amarillo is doing," said Parie Villyard. "We've already sent out most of our flowers for the day and lots of people order ahead of time."

Villyard states that throughout the day the store has been getting a rush of phone calls with people making sure to get their last minute orders in. Some of their biggest requests this year have been for their pennies, hydrangeas and tulips. "We got all of the above," said Villyard. "So we have those kinds of lush gardeny flowers."

Florists were not the only ones busy with orders. Over at Schakolad Chocolate Factory things have been pretty hectic as well.

"We've just been swamped," said DeRima Johnson. She states that the week of Valentine's Day is typically their busiest time of the year. Between January 1st and Valentine's Day they make about 150,000 truffles and about 1,000 chocolate boxes.

And their biggest seller is of course their strawberries. "Most people are buying our strawberries because they're beautiful long steam strawberries," said Johnson. "We probably go through about 4,000 strawberries in 2 days."

If you still haven't gotten your sweetheart anything yet, both Schakolad Chocolate Factory and Parie Designs will still be open on Valentine's Day.
