Amarilloan Ryan Palmer tops the leaderboard at the HP Byron Nelson Championship after one round of play.

Ryan fired a 6 under par 64 inlcuding matching rounds of 32 on each nine to hold a one shot lead over two others. In fact, it’s a crowed leaderboard as 20 other players are within three shots. Last year, Ryan birdied the 18th hole, getting into a playoff, but losing on the first extra hole to Keegan Bradley.

Just like last season, Palmer is letting his caddie, James Edmonson pull his clubs and after today’s round Palmer told the writers that sometimes he doesn’t even look at what club is in his hands, he just hit its. So far, so good. Ryan will play early Friday morning in round two. Another native Amarilloan, Johnson Wagner, already a winner this season, shot one over par 71.
