Dan Branch of Dallas says he's confident the governing boards at the University of Texas, Texas Tech and Texas A&M won't make a decision on conference affiliation until after a hearing of state lawmakers on Wednesday. UT regents meet tomorrow to discuss whether to leave the Big 12.
UNDATED (AP) - There are only four games on the major league schedule tonight and the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros are idle. The Rangers resume interleague play at Florida tomorrow night and the Astros will be at Kansas City.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - TCU will play Florida State in its first-ever game at the College World Series. The Horned Frogs are headed for Omaha after defeating Texas 4-1 yesterday to win the Austin super regional.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Cowboys Stadium will host a big concert to kick off the NFL season in September and start the run-up to the Super Bowl at the stadium in February. Tim McGraw will headline the Sept. 10 event, which also will include a performance by piano great Van Cliburn and a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Cowboys franchise. Tickets go on sale June 26.
