Texas Tech finds new AD

Texas Tech officials have announced that Kirby Hocutt will become the next director of athletics at Texas Tech University.  He will succeed Gerald Myers who announced his retirement from the post last fall. Hocutt will become the school’s 13LUBBOCK, TEXAS -- th athletics director. “We are pleased that Kirby Hocutt has accepted our offer to become the next athletics director at Texas Tech University,” said Texas Tech University President Dr. Guy Bailey.  “There are a few small details to be worked out but we have an agreement in principle.  We are excited about the future of our athletics program and look forward to his leadership.  This is a great day for Texas Tech Athletics.” The 38-year old Sherman, Texas, native, comes to the Red Raiders after spending the last two and a half years as athletics director at the University of Miami. “This is a great day for Texas Tech University and for the future of all 17 of our intercollegiate sports,” said Texas Tech University System Chancellor Kent Hance.  “Kirby (Hocutt) is a visionary in the business of college athletics and we believe that he will grow our athletics department into one of the best in the country.” Details of a formal news conference will be announced at a later time.
