The area football season will come to an end on Saturday when Stratford takes on Cayuga in Abilene.
The Elks will pad up one more time for their chance to take the Class 1A Division II Championship. A win would match district member and rival Canadian with a title, the Wildcats took out Mart with a 38-7 win last Saturday. The win would also give Stratford three titles in this decade. Kickoff is set for 3:00 Saturday at Shotwell Stadium.
Along with Canadian, three New Mexico schools are champions. Portales, Texico and Melrose captured titles while Clayton and San Jon finished runner-up.
Congrats to all and good luck to Stratford.
