AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Caprock wrestling Coach Anthony Hoppe, has been selected as state coach of the year in wrestling by the National Federation Coaches Association.

Under Hoppe's coaching, the Caprock girl's wrestling team have been defending state champions for the past seven years.

"Me being selected was a team effort. In which, last year people in the Panhandle did not give us an opportunity or did not think that we were able to go back down to Austin and defend our title. And through our hard work our kids went down there, and well we brought back another championship to Caprock," said Coach Hoppe.

Hoppe has also been nominated for sectional coach of the year, and will be considered along with other coaches in the section for the honor.

States included along with Texas for the sectional honors are Arkansas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Oklahoma. Sectional winners will then be nominated for national coach of the year.
