Tuesday was the final night of the regular season for Texas girls high school basketball teams and with most of the playoff berths already decided, the only big title up for grabs, the district 2-5A championship.

Amarillo High visited Lubbock Coronado with the winner owning bragging rights and the district title.

AHS coach Jeff Williams told Pronews 7 sports last week that winning on the Lady Mustangs home court would be tough and he was right.

AHS was within four points in the fourth quarter but couldn't get any closer and Coronado pulled away for a double digit win. Both teams now get ready for the UIL playoffs.

On the boys side, Amarillo high won a close game that nailed down the district title with two games left to play.
