DALLAS (AP) -- Parts of North Texas looked like a winter wonderland Tuesday (12-16) as a cold front made its way across the state.

Dozens of traffic accidents were reported in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Tuesday and some schools cancelled or delayed classes after a winter storm blew in with freezing precipitation.

About 100 traffic accidents were reported in Dallas between midnight and daybreak Tuesday. The storm left a thin layer of ice on many bridges and roadways, and a blanket of snowfall in some areas.

Schools in Dallas and Fort Worth began classes on time, but there were delays and cancellations in some of the suburbs. Winter weather advisory was in effect until at least late Tuesday afternoon in Central and North Texas.
