OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Heavy rains are causing flash flooding across Oklahoma City, stranding motorists and prompting the closure of portions of several interstates and city streets.

Oklahoma City Police Lt. Gamille Hardin says portions of Interstate-235, I-35 and I-44 were closed Monday morning after between 2 to 6 inches fell in just three hours.

Forecasters say an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain per hour will occur in some areas.

Hardin says there were no immediate reports of injuries, but police and fire officials rescued several stranded motorists after their vehicles were trapped in rising floodwaters.

Oklahoma County officials reported they have deployed all of their "Closed Roads" signs across the county.

Lightning caused electricity outages.
