After one of the driest years in the Panhandle to date, Randall County Commissioners voted Tuesday to renew the county wide burn ban for another 90 days.

Randall County Judge, Ernie Houdashell, said there was already a burn ban in place but was near expiration and because of the ongoing dry conditions, commissioners voted unanimously (5-0) to renew it. Randall County Fire Chief James Amerson also attended Tuesday's meeting and fully supported the decision to renew the ban.

"Although we had rain over the weekend, we could still have a fire anytime," said Judge Houdashell.

There have been continuous burn bans in Randall County for more than one year straight.
