SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say a Dallas woman accused of murdering a South Dakota man in 2010 confessed to the killing. Police say 34-year-old Letisha Morgan also told officers she used three knives to stab 52-year-old Howard Allen because they kept breaking. Morgan's alleged confession came as she was being questioned in the death of her boyfriend in Texas.
HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston physician is on trial for what prosecutors say is more than $5.2 million in phony Medicare home health claims. Records introduced in the trial of Dr. Ben Echols this week show he approved home services for 352 patients and never saw 200 of them before permitting the services. Echols' lawyer says the physician violated no rules or laws.
GEORGETOWN, Texas (AP) - Williamson County officials want more time to decide whether a little-known salamander species should be put on the federal endangered species list. County commissioners decided yesterday to ask federal authorities to withhold a decision until later in the summer. Commissioner Lisa Birkman says research so far disputes the idea that development alone is putting the salamanders at risk.
HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Mayor Annise Parker is supporting a $100 million expansion of the city's Hobby Airport that will enable Southwest Airlines to accommodate international flights. Parker and airline officials plan to announce the deal today. Houston's City Council still must approve the agreement.
