AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Say goodbye to the old fashion neighborhood watches. Amarillo residents are using social media to help keep an eye on their community.

City Commissioner Ellen Robertson Green is one of many residents that decided to create a Facebook group for her neighborhood. Rather than simply relying on the police to keep patrol, neighbors band together with the page.

"Our philosophy is that we're stronger together than we are a part," said Green. "I can't worry about my own literal backyard or my own corner. I worry about the West Hills Neighborhood as a whole and we've been able to accomplish a lot by doing that."

Green states that the page has become a place where neighbors could go and connect while keeping each other safe. If there was anything happening in the neighborhood, everyone would be notified quickly through the page.
