AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Early Thursday morning at approximately 5:29 a.m. Amarillo Police Officers were sent to the 1800 block of south Grand Street when a man called police stating he had just been robbed.

When police arrived at the scene the victim told police that he was airing up a tire on his White Chevrolet pickup when a man came up to him asking to borrow a cigarette lighter. When the man gave the victim the lighter back he told him to hand over his keys and wallet.

The victim said that he was surprised and didn't understand the request and asked the man to repeat himself. The suspect the produced a gun and repeated himself. The victim then ran into the store to report the robbery.

According to APD the suspect took the vehicle and left driving eastbound on the Interstate 40 access road.

The suspect is described as a hispanic male with a shaved head and tattoos on his arms. He was wearing a white shirt and khaki pants. APD believes the suspects description matches the one of a man involved in a robbery of a Toot'N Totum 20 minutes before this incident.

At this time there have been no arrests and APD is still searching for the 2009 pickup with Texas tags.

If you have any information contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.
