OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Strong storms with the potential for heavy rains and flash flooding and large hail are moving across Oklahoma and Texas and are expected in Arkansas.
A flash flood watch was in effect Monday morning for the eastern half of Oklahoma, western half of Arkansas and from central through northeast Texas.
Lead forecaster Rich Thompson with the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., said heavy rain is expected to begin Monday afternoon and the storm could take up to 36 hours to move across the region. He said up to a half-foot of rain could fall in southeastern Oklahoma, northeastern Texas and southwestern Arkansas by Tuesday afternoon.
