CONWAY, TEXAS -- Nearly $200,000 in marijuana was seized in a traffic stop Monday evening, according to theĀ Texas Department of Public Safety.
A 2012 Ford Taurus, traveling four miles east of Conway on Interstate 40, was speeding at about 7 p.m., when troopers made the stop, DPS said.
Consent to search the vehicle was granted and 31 vacuum-sealed bundles of marijuana, weighing 35 pounds, were found inside the car's trunk, DPS said.
The driver, 31-year-old William R. Gardenhire of Wichita, Kan., was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.
DPS said the marijuana may have been received in Las Vegas and was being transported to Wichita.
Also found during the traffic stop was a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun. Those items were also confiscated.
